Wound Vacuum Systems - NPWT

This link will take you to an online demonstration of the Chariker – Jeter® Approach and dressing technique, the choice of drains, case studies using the Chariker – Jeter® Approach and other support documents relating to Negative Pressure Wound Therapy. While most of this data is based on the use of the Blue Sky Pump as the source of the vacuum, it may be assumed that another pump, (eg.the Pro 1) using the Chariker – Jeter® Approach, operating in the same negative pressure range will produce the same results.

Marcon introduced the Blue Sky Wound Vacuum System in northern California in 2004. At the time, it was the most cost effective and gentle wound vacuum system available.
Now, using the same time proven Chariker – Jeter® Approach and dressing technique, the same drains and the same level of negative pressure, Marcon has introduced the Prospera Pro 1 NPWT pump. The Pro 1 is simply an improved replacement of the source of the vacuum, using the Chariker – Jeter® Approach
Pro 1 is approved as an NPWT pump by CMS for Medicare/MediCal reimbursement under HCPS Code E2402.
It is manufactured in Germany for Medica Rents, a Texas based company. The Pro1 is compact and portable, has a four-hour battery back up, weighs about 6 pounds and features a digital read out and an alarm that indicates a breach in the integrity of the dressing. An even smaller, more portable, unit is planned for introduction in early 2008.
The Prospera™ PRO-I™ combines state-of-the-art technology with proven negative pressure wound therapy protocols1,2 to deliver ease of use, advanced patient comfort and cost effective outcomes.
Features of the PRO-I
- Dual operating modes offering Continuous Therapy or Intermittent Variable Pressure
- Therapy (VPTTM) for added patient comfort
- Battery operation for portable use
- Extremely quiet operation
- User friendly, simple controls
- Durable, lightweight and portable with an easy grip handle
- Optional canister placements (up to 4)
- LED status indicator and audible safety and overflow alarms

Marcon’s line of pressure relieving Air Support Therapy Mattresses is comprised of a series of Group 2 alternating pressure, low-air-loss, dynamic and turning surfaces all designed to create an ultra-low pressure environment characterized by reduced friction and shear, for both healing and humanitarian reasons. That is why the Marcon's Air Support Therapy line delivers patient comfort along with some of the lowest patient support interface pressures available.
Marcon believes that more cells means a more exquisite conformity to each patient's individual body profile. It's a simple law of physics that the greater the area supported, the less the pressure at any given point. |
